Well the 2010 World Championships to date have been nothing but a nightmare for XTECH MPC International star Nicole Begg, who arrived in Colombia for the World champs, Faster, Stronger & in the form of her life.
GREAT SPONSORS SUPPORT & COMMUNITY STANDING
Nicole has great sponsors with XTECH being the prime sponsor, with MPC, SPARC, Bob Driver Kia, Skins, THAI Restaurants, Bruce Ireland Uvex New Zealand & Wheelz also sponsors. Excellent coaches her parents Cheryl & Bill Begg & in while in N.Z. World team Roy Dobbin.
Able to compete in most the Worlds top competitions & have a big public profile in her home city, being a role model & mentor for many young people.
RECORD AT WORLDS
The last 5 World champs she had amassed 15 medals, 13 on the track & 2 in the marathon, this inspite of very serious injuries in 2008 & 2009, which prevented proper preperation for the World champs.
With her chief opposition in the track distance events Hoo Woo Sook missing, ( Won Last 3 Worlds 10km points/Elimination ) she could of expected a reasonable return of medals.
2010 WORLDS TO DATE
But in fact this backfired on her, without the strong Korean presence to traditionally attack in the second half of the race, the fields have not been brocken up & the strong Colombian, Italian & German teams, can focus on covering a few individuals such as Nicole, instead of having to struggle to deal with the Koreans.
EXAMPLES OF CHEATING & NEED FOR EARPIECE EXTERMINATION
The 10,000 meters points / Elimination on the track was a prime example & a disgrace, where one Colombian was focused on sitting on Nicole, then jumping out & cutting her off when she sprinted for points & nearly ran her into the center of the track. Obviously after winning the Junior events, they had a disregard for the strong Italian opposition & alone they thought one could clock up the points. In the act of stuffing up Nicoles chances, both Colombians Blew up & were eliminated & ended up 11th & 12th a very big embarrassment & two skaters unrated collected the Bronze & Silver medals, while Nicole got 4th.
The Cheating earpieces equipment has to go, CIC president Roberto Marotta said they were going to be banned, but as yet nothing happened, not only does it encourage cheating, but now also Child abuse with skaters as young as 8 years of age being turnt into robots, & having coaches abusing them while racing.
In the Elimination you are making a pass down the inside in open space, next thing without the skater in front looking around, bingo you are being run into the barrier, as the coach from above just dishes out the move left or right blocking order. It is ruining the racing & countering suprize moves, creating Robots & encouraging cheating.
Then you have the other situation with earpieces, that leaving the track instuctions are, not heard or adheared to, often used as an excuse.
In the 20,000 Road Elimination the dutch skater was out, but ended up changing the complete complexion of the race by widing up the pace in the last two laps & giving the Colombians a lovely lead out, on a track difficult to pass on, when the pace is on. If the Colombians had of had to one lead the other out, then it was poible that they would not have run one two in the event
LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE GIRL WHO HAS ALMOST EVERTHING IN OUR SPORT,
Is missing the main ingrediant for the World Champs a TEAMATE, who can Block, tow, lead out for final sprint, protect, Take the Elimination drop for you, if you are caught out & give you a helping shove when needed.
At World Champs a number of these illegal moves go unreported as many titles are won, with cheating a big factor, which unfortunately ruins our wonderfull sport.
