A Group of Timaru skaters made the 2 1/2 hour road trip to Dunedin to train with the Dunedin Based skaters.
With only 12 days to go till the New Zealand Road Speed Skating Champs 1st to 3rd January & the Indoor track champs 4th to 8th Jaunuary in Auckland. The chance to train on a different wooden 100 meter indoor basketball court was beneficial.
Brett McCormack an EXTECH master skater coaches a group of skaters in Dunedin a University City, renowned for Baldwin street the steepest Incline City street in the World.
Nicole Begg EXTECH put the skaters through a couple of hours of various training drills indoor before they put in another hour on the road.
Dunedin Based Brothers Jonathan & Keaton & German exchange student Salmone Bader will compete at the Nationals in Auckland.

Dunedin is a renowned University city for Commerce, Medical, Law & Dental Studies, but without previous strong clubs in the past, New Zealand has lost a lot of its good skaters , when they moved to the Southern City & with no stuctured Speed training available, ended up being lost to the Sport.
Hopefully with Brett McCormack moving into coaching, as well as still training seriously, with the support of the Timaru Based XTECH Begg family members, Dunedin can become a strong speed skating club.
